Padhastana, the Stork pose



INSTRUCTIONS
:

Stand straight, keeping the feet together and the arms hanging loosely along your sides.  raise the arms above the head with elbows straight. Exhale while bending forward until you can grasp your toes with your hands. If you cannot reach the toes, hold of the ankles or calves.

This posture is easy to understand, but quite difficult to perform fine, especially for beginners. Make a little practice with it every day.

BENEFITS: The thigh and leg ligaments get stretched. There is augmented flow of blood to the neck, shoulders, back, waist. This posture gives lightness to the body, does away with with abdominal fat. Very, very useful.

If you are suffering from any health condition, it is advisable not to perform these postures unless under the supervision of an experienced yoga instructor.
