INSTRUCTIONS:
This is the easiest between the inverted
postures, but neverthless very effective.
Starting form
Savasana, we lift up both our legs together, until they
are a bit over the head. Keep this pose for a while, then
return the legs on the floor slowly.
It is very important bringing the feet
back on the floor slowly, and getting up only after a minute
or two of Savasana.
BENEFITS: Viparita
Karani has similar effectiveness (even if a bit less) than
other inverted positions (Sarvangasana and Sirshasana): it
is supposed to keep the glands, organs, and skin in a
youthful condition, to aovid premature wrinkles, and to slow
down ageing.
It has a beneficial effect on the thyroid and sex glands.
Helps in inner armony.
If you are suffering from any health condition, it is advisable not to perform these postures unless under the supervision of an experienced yoga instructor.
