Vrikasana, the Tree Pose


INSTRUCTIONS
:

Bend your right knee and place the heel as high up against the inside of your left leg as much as possible.  Try to keep your hips, torso and shoulders facing front. Avoid sinking the hip or raising the right hip.

Place your hands in the prayer pose at the chest. Raise your hands, always in the prayer pose, above the head.

Repeat on the other side.

 

BENEFITS: The tree pose is very helpful for phsycological and physical balance. Helps concentration. Strengthens the muscles of the legs, knees, ankles and feet.

If you are suffering from any health condition, it is advisable not to perform these postures unless under the supervision of an experienced yoga instructor.
